The History of vehicle manufacturer Volvo
Today the Volvo Car Corporation has its headquarters in the Swedish town of Gothenburg and is a brand produced by the Chinese automaker Geely. The Volvo Car Corporation previously belonged to the Ford Motor Company, which acquired the group in 1999. The core company kept commercial vehicle production with its subsidiary of Volvo trucks as well as the development and production of Volvo construction equipment. The second largest Swedish car manufacturer after Saab, Volvo was founded as a subsidiary of the ball bearing manufacturer SKF in 1915 and began producing passenger cars in 1927 with the first production model, the Volvo ÖV4. After a total of eleven smaller models, the PV444 and the PV544 models from 1947 brought international recognition to the company in 1958. In 1958 the company already began outfitting its vehicles with the three point safety belt, which was developed by Volvo. In the 1960s and the 70s the models P120, P140, P1800 and the Volvo P1800 ES followed, the latter being nicknamed “Snow White’s Coffin” due to its striking glass tailgate. Volvo is especially well-known for the models from the 80s and 90s, the series 700 and 900. Volvo has brought the S60, S80 and the V70/XC70 models onto the market.
When do you need to buy original Volvo parts as soon as possible?
Different car parts are subject to constant wear, in addition to corrosion and ageing, and will need to be replaced from time to time. The usual wear parts are the tires, the car battery, belts, spark and glow plugs, lamps, and clutch and brake pads. Often parts of the exhaust system or the cooling system, as well as the body, are often affected by corrosion damage in older vehicles. Also, defects in the engine or the vehicle’s electrical system will occasionally require a new component.
