Valeo is an independent industrial group with over 69 thousand employees and it takes one of leading positions in the world ranking of vehicle manufacturing industry suppliers. It is represented in 26 countries and has a turnover of around €10 billion. The company owns 128 plants, 9 distribution centers and over 60 research organizations situated all over the world.
Valeo: “I'm fine” for nearly 100 years
The history of Valeo started in 1923 with a foundation of the brake pads manufacturing factory in the town of Saint-Ouen (France). The company owner Eugène Busson had acquired the license for their manufacture from the British company Ferodo as early as in 1910. After a few years of good progress, the sphere of production is expanding, and the factory starts manufacturing complete clutch sets. In 1932, the company was given the name Société Anonyme Française du Ferodo and entered into the registry record of the Paris Stock Exchange. With a view to increasing production, the company’s management creates subsidiaries in several countries of Europe, builds new factories and continues to increase capacities.
Since 1950, the following events played a meaningful role in the company’s growth:
- The purchase of shares in Sofica and Usines Chausson companies enables to establish manufacture of cooling systems;
- Takeover of Ducellier, Cibié Paris-Rhône and SEV-Marchal companies opens new prospects for further growth in the range of car electrics;
- Acquisition of Neiman and Paul Journée enables to launch the manufacture of safety systems;
- After acquiring ITT Industries, the company raises to a strong position in the production of parking assistance systems and the manufacture of wipers;
- The purchase of the famous company Labinal’s automobile division enables setting up the electric wiring manufacture.
In 1980, the company's shareholders head for globalization and decide to change the brand name. The new name Valeo, that in Latin means "I'm fine" or "I'm healthy", fully reflected the company's state. So far, the name is just as relevant.

Valeo wiper blades produced from natural rubber enjoy high demand. A groundbreaking profile of the strip enhances effective cleaning of pollution (insects, dust, etc.) and total water removal from the windscreen. A special graphite coating protects the wipers in terrible weather and prevents them from freezing to the windscreen, ensuring an extended useful life.
Valeo clutch is distinguished by smooth and easy motion. If the operation rules are properly observed, it can last 140-150 thousand km. A Valeo flywheel lasts virtually forever. A clutch disc is overheat-proof within the permissible range.
Valeo parking assist systems Beep & Park ensure comfort and guarantee absolute safety at parking even for inexperienced drivers.
